Rebuild Update==P. Jones

Thanks to Tony (fast hands) Jacobs we have removed the body in a few short hours. Hopefully by the end of next week frame will be at powdercoaters. Peace.

What am I missing here, guys? That is not a Lone Star frame. At least, it bears little resemblance to mine. I recognize the front cross member, but that is about it.

This is the last light-comp chassis that Lonestar offered. It was designed for the donor build from a Mustang although I did it from scratch. There are no drop pans.

Finished the rolling chassis last night thanks to Tony "fast hands" Jacobs. I doubt I will be finished by the Fall Meet. Depends on how fast the painter is. @ Aggie Jack--I had the ball joint plates on upside down. The 10* plates are just right. Thanks for your time.

Sprayed undercoating last Sunday. Body on tomorrow or next day. Should be at the painters next week. Makeshift paint booth out front in the circle drive. I told the neighbors they just thought the white-trash couldn't get any worse.

The painter came by the house yesterday and said he would be more comfortable painting body-off. So tonight is building a body buck on wheels.

Geez that would have been good info to have months ago. It could have been painted by now!

Has all the body work been done?
The fit of the doors and trunk lid may change when the body is bolted back down on the chassis. Getting the doors "in plane" with the body and properly gapped and getting the trunk lid and body contours matched are key parts of the body work. Did the painter inspect the car when assembled?

Your are right Jim. I have changed my mind again. Putting body on next weekend and just tape up the frame the best I can. Body work has not been done yet.

I think that's a wise move.
You get the added bonus of getting to clean body shop gunk off the frame for several years to come. I'm still finding it and mine was painted in 2007.

I took my cobra to the painters on the frame so they could aligned the swing fiberglass and get every thing lined up. Then once they had that finished we lifted the body of and put it on a body buck to be prepped and painted
