LS 427 Interior Room

Postby KENSTAL » Sat Jan 30, 2010 9:56 am

Good Day All,

I'm new to the forum and have a general question on the LS 427. I know it is larger than others, but my question is how large. I'm considering buying one if I can fit in it. I'm 6'-3" and weigh about 225#. I would like to know if there is anyone with an LS 427 within a reasonable ride from me, 3 hours max, that I could see and sit in for a fit check. I live in central NJ near the coast, Toms River NJ 08753.

Please respond to me via the forum or preferably at STALGAITISKA@NETZERO.NET.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ken,

I’m no where close to your geographical area but I am 6’3” and 258 lbs and I have no problem fitting in my car comfortably, at least as far as anyone can be comfortable in one of these cars.

There are a couple of considerations; get the tilt up steering wheel, the flat seats (i.e. big boy seats), mount the drivers seat all the way back with the front tilted up about 30 degrees and bolt them directly to the floor (no sliding tracks). That will do it.

You can get some idea of what I am talking about if you go to my LS Build on my website.

I'm in the Pittsburgh area. If your ever over this way your welcome to take a look. I'm 6' 2" 255# and
I have plenty of room. When I was looking, I sat in many cars, and I was either looking over the windsheild or
my knee was hitting the dash.

Ken,

I'm in Middletown, MD 21769 thats out RT 70, 50 miles west of Baltimore beltway, I'm probably hour and half to Delaware memorial bridge, so its probably close to 3 hours.

Your welcome to come sit in my car and I'll tell you all the mistakes I made, a quick spin may be out of question since its snowing hard right now. I'm 6'2" 215 and my seat is not all the way back , still have about 3" left, I can't push clutch to floor if I move it all the back witrh the Kirkey road race seat.

HEY 428scj what part of the 'burg' do you live in? I'm from north hills.

Hey 428 have you been to Beaver Run for a track day yet? I'm considering coming up this year for a day. The Capital Area Cobra Club runs the Autox events at the Cumberland airport, if you autox you should give it a try, some of the biggest competition is the Steel Town Corvette Club.

6' 4" 200 lbs during the holiday off season and 10 lbs more during the holiday season. :D No issues here. Tilt wheel, seat back all the way and you are good to go.

Kinton,

You have enough room for you but how about that expanding family???? You going to make that extra piece into a trailer with tie-downs for baby seats?

I find a 5'10" and a short torso, I fit perfectly and even have to move the seats up some. I drove a backdraft and felt really uncomfortable since I was looking over the windshield the entire time.

Ahead of you on that one Pat! 8)

Larry, Good suggestion. But I think a trailer is the best for me in this case to carry all of my new towing straps.
