Looking for ideas. Let's see what you have done.

I'm thinking a simple oval shape and brushed aluminum for mine like the pictures here I stole from another site.

Sorry, no picture yet because I'm not to that stage of the build. I intend to build a quick mold and form a two-part shroud out of fiberglass.

On the shroud you show, I wonder how they got that installed? It must be before the body is set. That's nice aluminum work but I bet it's impossible to get off at this point. Looks nice.

It is a very nice piece of work.

It looks like it is mounted to the body. The radiator tilts back so if you lift the body straight up, the shroud would pull away from the radiator.

This link will take you to the picture of my shroud. Unless someone is laying on the ground looking up your snout they will never notice if it is connected to the radiator or not. If you look at the rest of my build pics you should be able to see the shroud under the hood that keeps air from escaping over the radiator.

Randy,

Mine is made from stainless and looks similar to the pic above it just doesn't go all the way around the radiator. This is the best picture I had, but if you want more let me know.

Thanks all.
Randy, how do you secure yours?

By the way, I think the install in the red one had to have the radiator removed to fit it in. Not something I want to do :)

I'm not real sure, but I know it's got a couple of brackets that bolt to the frame. If you look real close you can see the bolts in the picture. I'll try to get some better pics with the mounting brackets included.

I liked the look of the LS shround so I went that path. I considered making one myself, but time was a factor so I went with it. The white film is the prtective coating gaurding the polished finish. I removed it after paint.

I made mine out of aluminium. It doesnt go all the way around but unless you look up into the snout you never know. I created a piece that mounts to the top of the radiator to keep air from going over the top and riveted the bottom piece to the top one to secure it. I used a polishing buff to get the shine, it polished up nice and easy.

I fab'd a subframe to hold my tranny and engine coolers. Planned far enough ahead to bolt the louvered panel to it. (It's a scrapped aluminum door off of an old phone company electronics cupboard). No pictures show it, but I made a "hoop" to fit tight inside the fiberglass nose inlet out of 1/8 x 1 inch aluminum strap. It's held in place by a couple of small sheet metal screws thru the top of the inlet and the hoop. You can't see the screws unless you're on the floor looking up. I tried to make the side panels one piece but gave up after about the forth try and too much kinked aluminum flashing material from Ace hardware. The smaller pieces are a lot easier to compound bend and fit together. I pop riveted the smaller panels to each other, the inlet hoop, and my louvered panel accross the bottom. Lots of elbow grease, metal polish, and equally spaced pop rivets....I don't think it looks too bad.

Randy,
If you need a shroud for a template, I will be happy to send you mine. I picked it up at LSC during the move-out sale. It is also pictured with an oil cooler shroud.

Thanks for the offer Paul. I'm all set with a template out of posterboard before I start cutting.

Appreciate everyone's pictures and ideas!

I like the look of the LSC shroud better than the first post picture. I also like having the top of the shroud open so that cold air can be pushed through the engine bay to help aid in cooling, of the bay.

Curious-
How well does the LSC polished shroud install ?
What's the cost ?

Kevin, Nothing to the nstall, two thin metal brackets that bolt from frame to sides of shroud to desired fit & I added my own bracket to the bottom to level . Sucker will get radiator in a heartbeat though if you let it slip ! Price I don't know, Brad W. & I did some swapping.

I finally got around to finishing mine. Sheet aluminum from Lowes, posterboard for template, in all about a 2 hour job. Brackets that hold it in are 1/8" x 1" steel bolted to the side of the frame and bent accordingly to fit.

Thanks for all your pictures and great ideas.

I'll call him tomorrow.

Are they pre-curved for the opening ?
How much are they ?

With my new side oiler build, time is running short for it and my cobra to be in the magazines. Even though I have the old engine out, I don't have time to make one myself. I also need to fab up a mounting system for the dual fan assembly, that I've had for like,....... 5 years ! lol

Nice job Randy, looks great, I went with the SS version that Brian has and added some steel mesh for radiator protection not sure if its needed, has anyone had any problems with rocks or debris.

The mesh has 1/2 in holes, when you look at it in the sunlight it looks like the whole thing is mesh because of the reflection in the ss
