paint

Postby sleal » Mon May 21, 2012 6:17 pm

Finally done with bodywork and paint 5 coats of gold base and 7 coats of sunset red mid coat with 5 coats clear. All we have left is wet sand and buff out and I can put it back together. :D

The pics don't do it justice, it is a deep red until the sun hits it and then the gold comes thru, I'll make a try at some better pics when its assembled.

WOW! That pops. I can clearly see the gold showing through, but had you not mentioned it, I might have dismissed it as JPG compression artifacts. Red's really are difficult to portray in pictures. I bet it's really stunning in real life sun.

I bet you're as stir crazy as I am to drive around in full glory.

Thanks for your compliments, you bet I can't wait to drive it completed, it has been over 3 yrs in the making. I did drive it for a few months last year to work the bugs out though, wet sand this weekend and my buddy that did the body work and paint is going to buff it out and then it's reassembly, very carefully this time :D

Beautiful car. I really like the stance and wheel well fit.

Agree w/Skuzzy. It looks really nice, all the way around.

It's an unusual color and not in-your-face flashy. Classy.

I love it! Excellent job. I've been looking forward to seeing her done. Now she's ready to show off at the FFR events being that you live up the road from their factory. :D.

Wow! Now that is a sweet color. Fantastic looking depth on the paint. I am jeolous! My ride is getting close now. Paint shop will hopefully be done in the next few weeks. Strip is going on today and then clear coat, put the car back together and then ride! :D

That's awesome, wait to you put the clear on and it gets "that wet look", what color stripe and where did you get the top?

Have you had it on the road yet?

Hmmm. Did something wrong and I hope this oes not post twice! Anyway, I got the hard top from Brian when I got the kit. The Bride wanted a top, AC and cup holders... I won on the cup holders....

Here are some updated pics and I hope to pickup the ride this Sunday if everything goes as planned! :D
