San Marcos

Postby Barnsnake » Thu Mar 08, 2012 8:55 pm

Three of us will be heading down to San Marcos on Thursday morning (3/29). We'll be going down the "back way" via 281. Anyone who would like to join the "convoy" is welcome.
Those of us on the west side will probably meet in Cresson. If anyone from the east side of the Metroplex wants to join we could connect in Glen Rose.

Chime-in if you're interested.

I'll be going down Thursday morning as well, but I plan to trailer the cobra. Bought a 24' enclosed car hauler a few months back and spent several weekends fixing up the interior. Should be ready to go now.

Sounds like a nice trailer!

You're still welcome to join us.
We have one trailering and two driving at this point.

If you're driving the cobra down, where are you going to park it?

They cordon off a section of the parking lot for us. Part of the registration fee goes to hiring the police or sheriff's department to provide security. There's an occupied police car among the Cobras all night in a well-lit parking lot. Given the number of registered cars, I expect there will be 50-60 (or more) parked outside.

Jim:

Bringing this one to the top again as we are only days away now.
We are driving down Thursday out of Grand Prairie. Our route is 67 S to 220 to Hico and then 281 S to Lampasas or Marble Falls pending fuel and food. Head to Blanco where we'll pick up Hwy 32 and head across the Devil's Backbone into San Marcos.
We would enjoy to convoy with you. What time are talking about leaving? Want to plan to meet in Glen Rose 9:30-10?

We're going to meet in Cresson at about 8:00. With a leisurely getaway it would put us in Glen Rose a bit before 9:00. Do you think you could make Glen Rose at 9:00 or so?

Everyone have a good time and be careful. I look forward to attending this even one day.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I just hope it is not a train heading my way.

As you come down the hill into Glen Rose from the east on 67 there is the Expo Amphitheater and a Best Western Motel on the north side of the street. We should be able to get into one of those parking lots. If those are full or barricaded, there is a Brookshire's grocery with a big parking lot on the south side of the street farther west near the high school.

I'll see if I can get an agreement to delay our departure a bit and make about 9:15 in Glen Rose.
