Upgrade if any on Clutch Slave ?

Postby Wendell / Lynn » Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:14 am

What system comes with LS Kit now or is there a aftermarket system that works, I remember Tug I think having Big Issues with one setup. I saw the Mirror Post page had a system but mine is a puller not a pusher as most people I think, not sure if it would work?

Call Glen at Rosehill. He can probably help you out with something that works better than what you have...

The Wilwoods have had the chronic problem of the piston unscrewing from the shaft. They may have resolved the problem by now. Some owners have also "fixed" them by various means. There are several old threads on the subject.

I have a "pull" cylinder that has been trouble-free, but I don't know who made it. It looks quite a bit like the purple Wilwood, but it is gold-ish colored and unmarked. It might be an old Tilton, but it's not listed in their current catalog.

I have the hyd TO bearing, cant beat it, I have 4k on mine no problems, clean install, less hardware, I have of heard problems with leaking but I think it could be due to improper piston length on install.

The piston sizing is critical but thats it, done, down side is if you have a problem you have to pull tranny

Have fun

I've been through several wilwoods, and have looked for a reasonable alternative that won't fall apart. Have had them come aprt 4 times that I can remember. Still looking. I tried the green loctite, that held for about 5 years then, surprise, no clutch. I gauled (sp?) the threads on the one I have now and it hasn't come apart (yet). I might try JB Weld next time....

I made a bracket and push rod to use Speedway's house brand push type. I can't see any way this could fail barring a leak. My oil pan obstructs where the cable should go on a Mustang.

I hate the color though. It looked blue on the web site.

I've got the Speedway model now, no complaint on it just has a shorter stoke than the will wood but no backing off as it the will did me. These look cleaner & beefier , probably gonna give one a try!
Thanks Guys!
