In 1952 300SL Roadster production began and continued through 1963. In the end 1,858 roadsters were produced. The 300SL has become legend for many reasons, one of which is its advanced design. The unique shape of the 300SL's body produces an incredibly low coefficient of drag of only 0.25. Modern cars average between 0.35 and 0.30. To make this feat even more incredible is the fact that there were no computers to aid in the design for aero-efficiency. The 300SL was every bit the trend setter having been the first Mercedes to bear the SL designation.

Motor Trend 's test had the 300SL hitting 60 mph in 8.5 seconds and the quarter-mile in 16.1. Making this possible was a 3.0-liter, SOHC straight six that produced 215hp with a curb weight of 2,700 lbs.

Lone Star’s LS300 shares the same elegant body lines of the original with performance to butte. With so few originals made, most only viewable in museums makes this one of the most unique component cars on the road. When completed the LS300 only weighs an est. 2,400lb, 300 lbs less than the original. The LS300‘s lighter weight and more horse power backed with modern technology results in improved ride quality and better performance. With 225hp the LS300 can almost half the originals 0-60 time and make it’s quarter-mile look like a Sunday drive.

The LS300 shares its chassis & suspension with Lone Star’s LS427. It uses custom-tubular control arms up front w/fully adjustable coil over shocks. In the rear is solid axle suspension in the form of ladder-bar suspension or 4-Link, Pan hard bar, and adjustable coil over shocks. This suspension has proven itself to be the ultimate traction design. The LS300 chassis will accept any small block Ford or Chevy V8. The chassis has been pre-welded & pre-drilled. The LS300 kit includes the original style chrome grill with a 5-point star. Original bagging and emblems are not included.
